1/2 Marathon
I walked a half marathon last week end. It took 3.35 hours. I have never felt so good and so sore in my entire life.
Since I quit smoking I have had to do something else to keep my mind off smoking. I have decided to walk. I walk about 25 miles a week. I walk 7 days a week. I am soon to become one of those people I hate, who always manages to get walking or running into a conversation.
Yup, that's me. I think my mother thinks I'm nuts. I know my dad does. I know that the folks I work with also think I am a little insane, cause all I do at lunch is walk. Every day. I eat a salad at my desk and I walk during my break.
I will not be one of those people who will talk others into walking with me. In fact I would rather walk alone. Keeping pace with me. Or maybe with someone faster than me that I have to work to keep up with.
I hope to get my bike fixed so I can try to train for a ride as well as walks. Running still seems to be out of the question because of my knee. It hurts a lot when I run.
This goes out to all those folks who never thought they would be able to walk in a 5k, 10k, 5 mile, 10 mile, 13.1 mile or 26.2 mile race. You are strong, determined and not as weird as your friends and family might think you are.
